Why we walk....

I thought I would share why we support the March of Dimes and why we march for babies every year. When Jaya was born, I didn't know much about prematurity, and NEVER thought I would have a premiee baby, let alone a baby with health complications....but we did and it has changed our lives forever! July 14, 2005 - Jaya Jane Deckard came into the world, blessing us in so many ways.

This is a picture form just a week old...So most people relate the March of Dimes (MOD) to just premiee babies, and that is what I thought at first too, but they help ALL babies.
The money raised by the MOD goes towards research and also helps funds programs for NICU families. They have also advocated and researched the benefits of folic acid, along with funding treatments given to babies in the NICU, such as surfactant lung therapy.
Our time in the NICU was a time I will NEVER forget, our RN and Dr were amazing and it was there knowledge and support that got us through that hard time!
It is because of the immense amt of research done that Jaya is where she is today!!!!
And this is why we walk every year on Team Jaya! There is a chance to help all babies and give them all a fighting chance!
