Yesterday we were off to Madison yet again...Jaya had her post op with the NP (nurse practitioner) Tricia, who by the way we love!! This was the first appt I think we have ever had that was actually on time, in and out, no messing around! Tricia looked at her and checked out her cath, asked how the flushes were going and that was about it. She said Jaya looks great and is responding VERY well to the surgery.
We are currently flushing once a day - in the evening after dinner - with about 300ml. When we started once a day, we were using 250ml, but thought she may need a little more, so we moved up to 400ml, only to find that was just a little too much! So I think we have found the balance that we need and she is doing great. Actually before her flush is even over she is going - and poop accidents since coming home from the hospital, now her bladder is another story. She has been going A LOT and that could mean we are using too much to flush her with and her body is absorbing some of the extra water, but we will just have to keep an eye on her.
She likes to have everyone watch when we flush - she calls that her "water", so if anyone is at our house she asks if they can watch her "water"...but usually it is just Porter.
Jaya has her follow up with Dr.Kryger on September 9th and on that day we will start with a kidney ultrasound, it is that time again, and then we will see the doc and he will remove her cath.
Of course after her appt we walked around campus and went to the union for ice cream! Here are a couple of pics!
