Last Wed we got the news that Uncle Mike, who had been sick for a while, passed away. So this past weekend we made a trip home for the showing and funeral, it was a very sad occasion but it does give me some peace knowing he is no longer in pain.
We left Janesville on Sunday and met the rest of the family in Portage IN, and of course we had the kids with us....we tried to explain a little to Jaya about what was going on, she really loved uncle Mike, they called each other sweet cheeks!
So here is a conversation with Jaya after we got the funeral home:
"Mom, what's in the box" - by box she was referring to the casket
"Honey Uncle Mike is in the box"
"Mom, how can Uncle Mike be in the box if he is already in heaven"
"Well Jaya that is what happens when you die, your body stays here and your spirit goes to heaven"
"Is it just his bones?"
"No Jaya it is his body"
So finally Jaya said, "Okay well let's look in the box, I want to see"
It was just an interesting conversation that I did not anticipate on having!! But kids do ask a lot of questions!!
The services were very nice and I am glad we were able to make it....Sweet Cheeks, you will be missed and we love you SOOO MUCH!!!
