Today Jaya had quite the afternoon, we had a chest xray first then off for an echo and more blood work. Just in case you didn't know, she has been complaining of chest pain and was on a 30 day heart monitor and the docs couldn't come to anything conclusive as to why she was having pain so the echo was scheduled to look closer at her heart. If you aren't familiar an echo is a very extensive ultra sound of the heart, this took a whole hour and Jaya did great! She laid there and just watched the screen, it was actually very cool! The xray was also done just to get a different view of her heart. Then came the dreaded blood work, she had it two weeks ago and they needed to do some more tests, nothing major just checking. So here is the conversation I had with Jaya.....
" Jaya we have to go back and have more blood work today"
"But why mom"
" Well they just need to run some more tests to find out why your legs are hurting so much"
" Mom, can they use the same arm they did last time?"
"Sure I guess, why"
" Because there is already a hole there from the first time!"
Kids are precious and really do say the darnedest things!!! This was hard and of course she screamed and yelled, but thankfully I knew the person drawing her labs and she was great, Nick was also with us so he was able to keep her from watching while I held her still along with another nurse! Quite the experience, nothing you ever want your child to go through, hasn't this poor kid been through enough?? When will it stop, or will it? These are questions I ask myself all the time - she is definitely a trooper, so strong and brave!!!
Hopefully we will get some answers soon as to why she is having pain - so keep your fingers crossed!
