So here we are...January 31st and Miss Neela turns the Big 1 tomorrow morning! It's so hard to believe and so many times today I caught myself thinking, what were we doing last year at this point; I thought I would share our story so here goes!On Janu
ary 31st - I had an ultrasound and then my appointment with Dr. Shinn, my official date was still a couple weeks away, but because my fluid was low he said he would induce...Monday Feb. 4th was going to be the date! I was so excited to finally have a date set, so I remember calling Nick to let him know...I finished work that day, stopped at Walmart, along with half the town as it was supposed to snow really bad that night and people were stocking up. I got home and Nick wanted to stay in Lafayette with my parents, just in case I went into labor - I know we went back and forth on this because I was sure nothing was going to happen, but we went anyways! Had dinner, put Jaya to bed and watched a movie...went to bed at about 11:30pm - had felt NOTHING up to this point! I woke up at about 1:30am with horrible back pain, and it just wouldn't go away, Nick got up and said maybe we should go to the hospital, I was sure they would just send us home and thought it was nothing, but we decided to go...so we woke up my parents and I just remember being in so much pain! We got in the car and went! I called the Dr on call to let them know we were coming in - the ride that should have taken about 5 -6 min. I swear took about 20 or at least that is what it felt like! We arrived at the hospital about 2:45am and low and behold there were 2 other pregnant people in front of me....they didn't seem to be in any pain either!!! We got up to our room, met our nurse, Marcia Davis - who was wonderful and I ended up getting to work with her at Clarian, she checked me and found that I was 8cm! I hadn't been anything that morning at the doctors! 2 hours later, got my epidural and then just waited, at 7:30am Dr.Shinn got there - we were so happy that he would actually get to deliver one of our babies, and he had our new nurse (there was a shift change in there) Nicole, put me on Pitocin.....more waiting and then it was time, we started pushing at 8:30. It was so different than Jaya's delivery - so much more relaxed and quiet, I even got to watch - which I would recommend to anyone thinking about it. After and hour of pushing she was here 9:28am - all 5lbs. 13oz and so perfect! It really is amazing how quickly she has grown! I found some of my favorite pictures of her and here they are. Happy Birthday baby!
