I can't believe it is Friday morning and this will be our 4th day here.....last night was a little rough again, obviously because of the tornado warning, but then also I really wanted Jaya to have a bath and she wanted to until we had to start moving her....she was in so much pain. I know I have mentioned this before but she has been getting morphine for pain every 2 hours as needed, and I think we keep missing that 2 hour mark and then it gets to be too much for her, so last night after she threw up 4 times, the RN said she would come in 2 hours later and give Jaya the morphine even if she was sleeping, just to ensure she could get some rest. She had only had about 5oz of liquid by mouth all day yesterday but apparently her little belly is not ready for anything yet, so that could mean more time here.
At 5am this morning one the students came by to check on her and Jaya even let him touch her belly, HUGE improvement, so I am praying they will just keep doing that today. I know she needs to come off the pain meds at some point, but she also needs to move and that seems to be the big problem. Right now she is sleeping soundly and I am sure the residents will be in here shortly to wake her up.
Her homework so far from the doc is to blow bubbles, I know sounds silly right, but when people are limited to staying in bed and not moving a lot they are at a higher risk for pneumonia and so blowing the bubbles will help that.
I will keep everyone posted and again thanks for all your wishes and prayers...we are VERY lucky to have such a great support system!!!
