What's new.....

I have been bad about keeping up with the blog, things have been very busy this week and school is kicking my tush!! But I know it will all be done soon, at least the school part that is, my online class is nursing fundamentals and it is very hard! Just takes a lot more critical thinking and I guess now I have to learn to think that way??!!??
Porter, Jaya and Neela have been enjoying being around each other and playing all day long! They go swimming, play in the yard and ride bikes as much as they can. They all get along so well - and I love watching them play!

So now onto some major news in the deckard household....Jaya has been having some issues with her bowels and I know I posted before about how we have doing enemas daily for her, well we met with the urologist in madison for a surgery consultation - which we knew would have to happen at some point and left his office on Thursday with a surgery date....yes you read that correctly - Jaya is having another surgery. This is called the MACE procedure and you can find lots of information on the internet about it, we know it will be be the best thing for her in the long run so why wait. I think we both knew the urologist would want to do it soon, but we didn't realize how soon - we go into the hospital on July 20th - for a full bowel cleanse and then they take her in for surgery on the 21st. I know it is soon, just over a week away, but we have to do it. It's one of those decisions that you don't want to make, but she WILL benefit from it and hopefully as she gets older she will understand more.
She knows we are going in and that she will go to sleep and wake up with a "secret hole" in her belly button to help her poop, and essentially that is what it is. They will make a port connecting her belly button to her colon and then we will flush that prob ever day at the beginning and then every other day. This will help to keep her clean and help with continence.
She is such a brave girl and has gone through more in her 5 years than I prob ever will....but thankfully we have a very supportive family who I know will help us get through this. My only worry is - this is the first surgery we have had away from family and friends.....but I think mom is going to stay with us while Jaya is in the hospital and that will be a HUGE help!!! Thanks mom!!
I will keep you all updated on how things go and if anything changes!
